Security Training

The School of Public Safety at Guardian Academy is the premier education provider for security operations and emergency medicine. There is no other security school in the area providing the level of training and certifications that are available from Guardian Academy.

As an approved National Assocation of Emergency Medical Technicians (NAEMT) training site you will receive medical training that is unavailable from other security schools. Guardian offers medical training including American Heart Association CPR/AED/First Aid, a Florida approved First Responder program, and NAEMT Trauma First Response and Tactical Combat Casualty Care.

All of our courses are delivered by experienced instructors with real world street experience. From Downrange to Downtown, we take your education seriously.



Florida "D" License Course: $$150
This is the initial certification course that prepares the applicant for licensing as an Unarmed Security Officer. The course is 40 hours in duration.

Florida "G" License Course: $165
Required course for initial licensing under Florida Statewide Firearm License. This class is 28 hours and includes classroom and range exercises. This license is good for 2 years.

Florida "G" License Requalification: $75
4 hours of requalification must be obtained each year of licensing. A licensee who fails to submit 4 hours each year must submit proof of 28 hours training upon renewal at the end of the 2 year licensing period.

Florida “G” Advanced Training: $100
This is an add on to the 28 hour class or can be taken by the “G” licensed holder. The additional training covers:

 Reduced Light/Low Visibility
· Decision Making
· Tactical Movement
· Tactical Reloads

Students are required to pass the Reduced Light/Low Visibility Qualification Course. The student will receive a NRA Law Enforcement Course Completion Certificate for successful completion of this course.
Duration: 12 hours.

Professional Security Office Course
: $335
The Professional Security Officer Course includes the 40 hour D License Course and the complete G License course, and includes American Heart Association First Aid/CPR/AED training.

Trauma First Response for the Security Officer: $125 (Trauma First Response)
This is a one day course designed for non-medical personnel. Successful completion of the course will prepare the student to effectively deal with life threatening medical emergency that are a result of traumatic injuries. This includes gunshots, stabbings, and similar traumatic injuries. Students will receive certification from the National Association of Emergency Medical Technicians.

Emergency Medical Responder (First Responder): $300
A 44 hour program resulting in certification as a First Responder. Graduates are eligible for National Certification from the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians. Fees for national testing are $65 and payable to NREMT. Testing occurs offsite at a Pearson Testing Office.

Security Officer Handgun Course
Florida "G" License Course: $225
This 40 hour class prepares the Security Officer for the Florida "G" License. It exceeds Florida requirements for the "G" license and is based on the handgun training that law enforcement recruits receive while attending a law enforcement academy.  This course exceeds the State of Florida requirements for the "G" license and prepares the Security Officer to carry a handgun on duty. An excellent course for the Security Officer wanting to obtain the "G" license. Current G licensed officers should register for the G Advanced Training.

As part of this course the student will participate in a live-fire reduced visibility / low light training and will be required to complete a reduced visibility / low light qualification course of fire. The student will also be required to achieving a passing score on a decision making (shoot / don't shoot) course of fire. Attending this course will better prepare the Security Officer should it become necessary to discharge the firearm.

Homeland Security Operations Course

The Homeland Security Operations certification is an intensive forty-eight hour program that prepares law enforcement, military, or security personnel to perform in homeland security roles. Instruction is delivered over a six day period and includes classroom, practical, and range training.
 
Restrictions: This certification and course of instruction is only open to law enforcement officers, military personnel, licensed security personnel, and government employees.

Tuition: $395

Terrorist Threat

Physical Security

Tactical Medicine Considerations

Tactical Firearms

 

Hosting a Class

Organizations may choose to host this program at their facility. Two options are available for the hosting organization. The class may be hosted for internal employees as a closed class or hosted for all eligible students as an open class.  Hosting organizations are requested to have access to the following:

1. Private classroom.

2. Computer, screen, and LCD projector compatible with MS Power Point.

3. Access to firearms training range.

MARITIME TRAINING

Maritime Security I Training
A 16 hour course that provides the knowledge required for military, law enforcement, security, and other first responders without prior maritime background to conduct their duties aboard vessels, in port facilities, and elsewhere within the marine environment in accordance with the requirements of the Maritime Transportation Security Act of 2002.

Small Boat Operator Certification
Intended to provide the knowledge required to operate a small craft within the operational boundaries of a port facility. Topics include operation, maintenance, navigation, man overboard (MOB) vessel boarding, and the use of shipboard firearms.

These classes are available from the Mobile Training Team and can be hosted at any location. Classes are also regularly scheduled at a Tampa location.
MEDICAL TRAINING

First Responder for Security Personnel 

A 44 hour course that is Florida EMS approved and qualifies the graduate to take the NREMT - First Responder national exam. This course will prepare the Security Officer to respond to medical emergencies and trauma emergencies at any location.

Topics covered includes CPR/AED, Introduction to EMS, Medical Terminology, and Anatomy and Physiology,   Patient Assessment, medical emergencies, trauma emergencies, introduction to terrorism, and emergency response to weapons of mass destruction (CBRNE).

This class is available from the Mobile Training Team and can be hosted at any location. Classes are also regularly scheduled at a Tampa location.
