SeaPort Security Operations Course

The SeaPort Security Operations certification is an intensive forty hour program that prepares law enforcement, military, or security personnel to provide maritime and seaport security operations. 

Restrictions: This certification and course of instruction is only open to law enforcement officers, military personnel, licensed security personnel, and government employees.

There is an optional 8 hours of training for personnel with SCUBA certification. Certification must be at the Advanced Scuba level or equivalent. The 8 hours of training includes certification with the Rapid Diver Rescue Diver System and an  introduction to underwater threat identification.

The course can be delivered as a one week, 56 hour program, or taken one course at a time. Once the four core courses are complete the student will receive the Seaport Security Operations Certificate of Completion. Certificates will be issued for each of the four core courses and also for the optional 8 hour rapid diver/UW Threat identification class.

The following courses are required for the Seaport Security Operations certificate:

SSO 1101 - Maritime Security for Law Enforcement and Security Personnel
This is a 16 hour block of instruction that serves as an introduction to maritime security requirements for law enforcement, security, military, and first responders. Tuition $150.
 
SSO 1102 - Small Boat Operations and Waterborne Patrol Techniques 
This is a 16 hour course that includes operational considerations, seamanship, navigation, surface water rescue, patrol, and boarding techniques. Tuition $200

SSO 1103 - Tactical Medicine Considerations for the Marine Environment 
An 8 hour course that covers emergency medicine for the maritime environment and trauma medicine for the law enforcement, security, military, and first responder.
Tuition $125

SSO 1104 - Waterborne Firearms Training 
This 8 hour course begins with range exercises for handgun/shotgun or handgun/rifle. 
After completing the range exercises, students will participate in live-fire waterborne firearms training on board watercraft. Tuition $200

SSO 1105 - Rapid Diver / UW Threat Identification
Optional course for the certified diver. Students will become certified with Rapid Diver Rescue equipment and become familiar with underwater threat identification. This is a necessary course for the law enforcement, security, military, or first responder interested in homeland security and seaport operations. Tuition $150

Hosting a Class
Agencies and public safety organizations may choose to host this program at their facility. Two options are available for the hosting organization. The class may be hosted for internal employees as a closed class or hosted for all eligible students as an open class. 

Hosting organizations are requested to have access to the following:
1. Private classroom.
2. Computer, screen, and LCD projector compatible with MS Power Point.
3. Access to firearms training range.
4. Access to water venue (lake, river, ocean)
